In Taiwan, a hiking group was hit by a landslide during their trip, and four people were struck by rocks and died.
It is reported that the incident occurred around 3 pm on Saturday. A 16‑person hiking group,
while walking along a waterfall trail in Heping District, Taichung, was hit by a landslide. A large number of rocks tumbled down, and several members could not dodge in time and were hit. Four people, including the tour leader, died, and five others were injured.
It is reported that when the group set out, the local authorities had already issued a heavy rain advisory, but some team members said, "The weather looked fine in the morning," and they continued the trip.
Authorities preliminarily believe that the days of heavy rain caused the landslide. They have dispatched search and rescue personnel to the mountain to carry out rescue operations and handle the aftermath.
