Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law says Hong Kong will stage bigger New Year's Eve coundown celebration this year as the city gears up for the 30th anniversary of its return to the motherland in 2027.
She also reveals that some previously free activities at the West Kowloon Cultural District may begin charging admission fees to help improve financial sustainability.
She expresses confidence that the slew of mega events in the second half of this year will help Hong Kong achieve the visitor number target of 53.8 million.
Law also reveals plans to introduce market-oriented approach at selected Leisure and Cultural Services facilities. Nine expressions of interest have been received earlier for projects involving Butterfly Beach in Tuen Mun and Big Wave Beach in the Southern District.
