Legislative Council member Wong Kam-fai has resigned from all Legislative Council positions effective immediately after being implicated in drunk driving incident. He expressed deep regret over the incident.

Wong is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol on the Chinese University of Hong Kong campus, crashing into another vehicle and fleeing the scene.

CUHK has suspended him from his administrative duties.

Wong Kam-fai is the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at CUHK. A statement from CUHK said the university is aware of and highly concerned about a faculty member suspected of drunk driving and being arrested.

The university emphasized that it always attaches great importance to the conduct and integrity of its faculty members and has immediately suspended him from his administrative duties.

The incident occurred on Monday evening. It is understood that while driving on the CUHK campus, Wong crashed into a private car and damaged another vehicle. He initially fled the scene but later returned. Security guards called the police.

Upon arrival, police found that Wong Kam-fai failed a breathalyzer test. He was arrested on suspicion of four offenses, including drunk driving. He was released on bail pending further investigation.
