As from today, the first batch of approved restaurants are allowed to let dogs in, covering more than 940 restaurants across Hong Kong.
For example, a Hong Kong style casual restaurant in Happy Valley has designated signs posted outside.
Although the restaurant is small, with fewer than ten tables, a pet dining area has been designated in the back, allowing dog owners and their furry friends to eat together.
The new measures have a one-month adaptation period, during which the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department will increase inspections to assist the industry in complying with the relevant regulations.
The restaurant owner hopes to familiarize themselves with the process in the next day or two and expects more pet owners to go to the restaurant over the weekend.
