Survivors are facing plenty of difficulties on a daily basis after the earthquakes in Venezuela killed at least 3,811 people, and left more than 16,000 people injured.

People in Venezuela are enduring harsh living conditions due to last month's back-to-back earthquakes, both exceeding magnitude 7.

Survivors are facing water shortage and limited access to hygiene services.

Families in the hardest-hit state, La Guaira, have taken to the beach to shower and to use toilet facilities.

Some are living in temporary shelters or outdoors.

Others describe a state of constant fear, saying they have not slept for days, terrified of further tremors.

Those providing help say many suffer from post-traumatic effects, and feel guilty for having survived while others perished.

The fear of returning to live in the building where the earthquake occured is also a recurring theme.

Meanwhile, in La Guaira, people lined up Wednesday to receive aid boxes from the US, which contain food, water and a hygiene kit that includes soap, toothbrush and body cleansing towelettes.

The United Nation estimates the earthquakes caused up to 6.7 billion US dollars.

The UN Refugee Agency says it needs nearly 15 million US dollars to provide temporary shelters and supplies for 30,000 survivors over the next several months.
