The latest Report on Student Enrolment Statistics shows Hong Kong has recorded a rise in primary and secondary student number for two consecutive years.

The Education Bureau's report states the total number of students in 2025/26 exceeds 660,000, a year-on-year increase of 1.3%.

A lawmaker representing the education sector says the rise could be contributed by the Top Talent Schemes. He says it is difficult to gauge when the top talent applicants and their children will arrive in Hong Kong, making it impossible for schools to plan the number of classes they should operate.
