In the United States, hundreds of protesters denounce the Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, as they rallied outside City Hall in Houston, Texas, to protest the fatal shooting of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a Mexican national who had lived in the United States for decades.
People marching to a Federal Correctional Centre in downtown Houston. Vivek Venkntraman, Protest Organiser said: "We're here today to demand justice for Lorenzo Salgado Araujo. We're here to demand justice for all victims of ICE. We're here to demand justice for everyone that is locked up, poor civic rights defense, and we're here to demand justice for the family of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo."
Loren Haskins, Houston resident said: "How many more people have to be killed by them before we collectively decide that we need to do something, and that enough is enough."
The shooting has outraged Houston leaders and renewed public scrutiny over ICE and US President Donald Trump's immigration crackdown.
Sylvia Garcia, Democratic Representative Texas said: "So it appears to be based on what they have told me, that, it was ICE that weaponised their vehicle. If you look at the videos across the country of some of what ICE has done, that is the way they operate. We have seen them crash windows and pull a woman out. We have seen them side-swipe people so Congress really has to act."
A vigil took place Saturday for Araujo with four Democratic members of Congress who represent Houston attending. They said they will push for an independent investigation into the shooting and killing of the home builder.
Christian Menefee Democratic Representative, Texas said: "The commitment y'all have from me is we're going to fight every single day for Lorenzo, for this family, for this community, and we are never going to forget that his blood is on Donald Trump's hands. We are not at war. Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was not a casualty. He is a human being who was murdered by our government."
Araujo's son believes his father may have been scared that he was being followed by unmarked vehicles, worried someone was planning to steal his van or his tools.
The shooting in the heavily Hispanic neighbourhood is at least the 8th death during Trump's ICE campaign.
