The results of this year's Diploma of Secondary Education Examination are out.
Nearly 16,000 day school candidates have met the general admission requirements for local undergraduate programmes.
As students return to their schools to collect their DSE results, some couldn't contain their elation, while others were met with disappointment, including some -- whose results missed the mark.
This student says as long as you've given it your all, there are no regrets.
This year, more than 15,000 day school candidates attained the benchmark of Level 332A33 or above, meeting the general admission requirements for local undergraduate programmes.
The proportion marks a drop of 1.7 percentage points year-on-year.
Secretary for Education Christine Choi visited Po Leung Kuk No. 1 W. H. Cheung College in Tsz Wan Shan to cheer the students on.
She says what truly determines a person's achievements in life is often not the score from a single exam, but the courage to face the unknown, the resilience to overcome challenges, and the lifelong commitment to learning.
Some candidates whose results fell short of expectations headed to private universities including Hang Seng University to explore alternative pathways.
The university's principal says applications rose by 20 percent, making competition even fiercer.
Others applied for associate degree and higher diploma programmes at institutions including the HKU Space Community College.
