Affected by a broad low-pressure trough, the city's weather has been unstable throughout the day.

The Observatory issued a red rainstorm warning in the morning, which was in effect for nearly two hours, prompting suspensions of day school and morning classes.

At 7:15 a.m., the Observatory issued the amber rainstorm warning signal. After 25 minutes, it was upgraded to the red rainstorm warning.

Multiple districts recorded rainfall exceeding 50 millimetres. During this period, the Drainage Services Department reported at least four flooding cases in Tsuen Wan and Yuen Long.

The forecaster says showers will gradually ease off with more sunshine and hot temperatures over the middle to the latter part of next week.
