China is now viewed more favorably than the US in 25 out of 36 countries, according to a new Pew Research Centre survey.
Pew polled more than 42,000 people in those countries between February and May of this year. Apart from countries that are traditionally friendly with China like Pakistan and Malaysia, a number of western countries now also see China more favourably, including Spain, Italy and Greece. In Canada, approximately 33% of people view the US positively now, compared to 57% in 2023. Meanwhile, Canada's positive view of China rose from 14% to 44% during that same time period.
The US is still viewed more favorably in 6 countries, which include Israel, India, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, and Poland.
