Foreign Minister Wang Yi meets with UK new top diplomat in Manila

Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Britain's new Foreign Secretary, Ed Miliband, in the Philippines.

At his hotel in Manila, Wang Yi met with Miliband. He had already called Miliband yesterday to congratulate him on assuming office as the British Foreign Secretary.

Wang Yi stated that since the beginning of this year, through joint efforts of both countries, China and the UK have opened a new chapter in developing a long-term, stable, and comprehensive strategic partnership, with exchanges and cooperation across various fields showing positive momentum. He expressed his willingness to maintain close communication with Miliband, make good use of the China-UK Strategic Dialogue mechanism, and work together to enhance mutual political trust, promote pragmatic cooperation, and address global challenges.
