CX raises fuel surcharges by up to 41%, starting Aug

Cathay Pacific will raise the fuel surcharge by up to 41%, starting August 1. Flights from Hong Kong to the Chinese Mainland will be raised by 20% to 198 dollars. For other short, medium, and long-haul routes, the price increased by a range of 98 to 397 dollars -- marking a 41% increase.

Cathay Pacific raised fuel surcharges twice in March and April this year, and after international oil prices fell in July, the surcharges were adjusted downwards. Cathay says the fuel hikes come as tensions in the Middle East escalated again but the new charges remain below the April level.
