22 Chinese fans denied boarding after following celebrity at airport

A group of Chinese fans were denied boarding at the main airport in Bangkok, Thailand, due to alleged violations of safety regulations while following a celebrity.

On the other hand, security personnel were also suspected of making discriminatory gestures during the scuffle, and the airport has apologised after taking disciplinary action against the staff involved.

CCTV footage from Suvarnabhumi Airport shows a group of Chinese fans holding their phones on the boarding bridge, chasing and filming a celebrity wearing a mask.

The airport issued a statement on Tuesday stating that the group of fans continuously followed the artist into the boarding areas, and refused to cooperate with ticket checks.

Due to safety concerns, the airline decided to refuse boarding for 22 members of the group who had failed to comply with security procedures.

Among them, 12 agreed to have their luggage offloaded, while the other 10 refused and became unhappy with the decision, leading to further confrontation with security staff.

Footage circulating online shows one of the security guards making a gesture of pulling eyes sideways, which is interpreted as discriminatory and sparks controversy.

The airport apologised for the incident, stating that while the security personnel's intervention was based on maintaining flight safety, they acknowledged that some individuals displayed inappropriate behaviour and disciplinary action had been taken against the officers involved.
