Chinese Medicine Hospital to launch 24-hour inpatient service

The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong is expanding from outpatient and day-patient care to round the clock inpatient services.

Starting December 11th, the Chinese Medicine Hospital will launch its 24 hour inpatient service, allowing patients to stay overnight.

It will initially have 93 standard inpatients beds, including 60 subsidised beds, with a longer term target of 250. The service allows inpatients to be closely monitored around the clock by Chinese and Western medicine doctors, who will provide tailored treatment plans.

The subsidised inpatient package costs 980 dollars per day, with western medical examinations, such as CT scans or MRI scans, ranging from an additional 500 to 2,000 dollars.

Hospital Chief Executive of The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong BIAN ZHAOXIANG: "The inpatient service is a milestone of the second stage of the hospital service, which is very important.The target patient we including the patient cannot take care of themselves but they need more of the caring from the Chinese and Western Medicine services. Also the patient's conditions which could be treated by multiple teams including Chinese medicine, western medicine, nurses thus to provide better health."

Patients can be referred from the hospital, or other medical institutions for assessment and possible admission.
