Police commissioner warns against those who stir chaos

Police's latest passing-out parade took place Saturday morning. Commissioner of Police Joe Chow pointed out that society must remain vigilant against national security risks, emphasizing that when applications for public assemblies are received, the police will assess factors such as public safety.

"All along, hosting public events requires notification in accordance with the Public Order Ordinance. In fact, we have always taken into account the overall situation—such as public safety and public order—and with the Hong Kong National Security Law in place, national security elements are also factored into the overall consideration, such as whether it will affect other citizens. I don't think it is a matter of whether 'red lines' exist. Overall, everyone can see that the social atmosphere is stable, but I want to emphasize once again that there is indeed a small handful of people who hope to exploit various opportunities to come out and stir up chaos," said Chow.
