Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan says the southbound travel scheme for yachts from Guangdong could be implemented as early as mid-October.

As part of the government's "yacht economy" drive, the northbound travel policy for yachts from Hong Kong has been in place for three months.

The new Policy Address also notes that the city's Marine Department and the Guangdong Provincial Maritime Safety Administration will sign a memorandum of understanding.

She also reveals that a few dozen mainland captains have already completed their assessments, and the Marine Department will arrange berths for the yachts.

The first Five-Year Plan also proposes Hong Kong should support the certification of the country's domestically produced aircraft and and their mass production.

When asked if the government will mandate local airlines to prioritise the procurement of domestically produced aircraft when expanding their fleets, Chan says the administration will actively promote domestically produced aircraft among local airlines or international airlines operating in Hong Kong.
