Abby Choi Trial: Jury dissolved over juror's health

Deputy High Court Judge Keith states a juror submitted a medical certificate to the clerk, indicating trial stress may worsen their existing health condition.

The judge finds it inappropriate for the juror to continue.

While proceeding with eight jurors is legally permitted, he rejects this option. And since the law does not allow replacing a single juror, he decides to dissolve the jury and empanel a new one Wednesday.

The judge notes losing three trial days is better than proceeding with an invalid jury, thanking them for their duty.

On February 21, 2023, 28-year-old model Abby Choi was murdered in a Tai Po village.

Three defendants, including Choi's ex-husband Alex Kwong, former brother-in-law and former father-in-law, are each charged with one count of murder, and all three have pleaded not guilty.

The trio are also each charged with preventing the lawful burial of a body.

The ex-father-in-law pleaded not guilty to this charge, while the other two have pleaded guilty.
