Taxi drivers reminded to provide quality service during Golden Week

The Mainland National Day Golden Week long holiday begins this Thursday, and the Transport Department is calling on the local taxi industry to provide high-quality service for visitors.

Commissioner for Transport Winnie Tse, together with the Taxi Service Quality Committee, distributed leaflets to taxi drivers to remind them to deliver high-quality service.

She noted that visitor arrivals to Hong Kong are expected to increase during this year's Golden Week, bringing business opportunities to the taxi trade, and urged the industry to seize the occasion.

The department has reminded drivers through trade associations and fleet operators to maintain a good service attitude during the Golden Week period and to proactively assist passengers in need. Meanwhile, the police will also step up law enforcement efforts during this period.

She added that the Taxi-Driver-Offence Point System has been in effect for two years, with around 230 drivers penalized so far for offences including overcharging, refusing hires, and taking longer routes.
