The police arrested two men and three women, aged between 37 and 65, on suspicion of disseminating fake information with seditious intent. They include an online news outlet founder and a dentist.

So far, eight have been rounded up in connection with the case.

Two of them, including founder of Boom News 37-year-old Tang Ho-wing, were taken away in the small hours of this morning.

Tang was taken to Yau Ma Tei Police Station for investigations.

It's understood that dentist Lee Ying-chi, a former member of the League of Social Democrats, was among the arrested. Police say on August 31 night, some held white flowers outside Prince Edward MTR Station and chanted seditious slogans.

Sources say Tang allegedly livestreamed there while toting a yellow umbrella.

Police stress that the "so-called 8.31 Incident" doesn't have any factual basis and has been used to smear the government.
