John Lee hails HK's Five-Year Plan at National Day reception

Today marks the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

 

The government holds a National Day reception at the Grand Hall of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai following a flag-raising ceremony.

 

The reception kicks off with a musical performance.

 

Three musicians and over 20 students play traditional pieces using a mix of Chinese and Western instruments.

 

Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC Leung Chun-ying, Director of the Liaison Office Zhou Ji, Chief Executive John Lee and various government officials propose a toast to the attending guests.

 

Delivering his speech, Lee says this National Day is particularly meaningful as it follows the release of Hong Kong's first Five-Year Plan.

 

Lee also says the Five-Year Plan is a strategic move to leverage the unique advantages of "One Country, Two System" and seize national development opportunities.

 

Lee adds the government takes immediate action to map out the city's long term future through continuous reforms with collective effort, Hong Kong will secure a bright future and he wishes the country continuous proseperity.
