The minimum wage for foreign domestic helpers whose contracts are signed starting today has risen to 5,220 dollars per month.
Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun says the hike comes after considering Hong Kong's improved economy.
The pay bump has marked an increase of 2.35%, which is 0.15 percentage points higher than last year's increase.
The labour chief says it's a reasonble increase noting the salary hike for helpers have previously been between 2% and 2.5%.
Meanwhile, the Policy Address has proposed the establishment of a social welfare data sharing platform.
Sun hopes NGOs will actively join it for the city's more precise identification and early intervention of vulnerable elderly or families.
