Kai Tak Hospital commences services in phases with the Hospital Authority noting the overall smooth operation of the facility.

Several patients at the new hospital says they were satisfied with the well-supplied facility, adding that the hospital offers ample space.

This as others note signage inside the building were not clear enough.

Hong Kong's largest hospital officially opens its doors to the public at 8am today.

As of now, only Tower 4 of the new Kai Tak Hospital offers outpatient services to patients via its family medicine integrated centre.

A maximum daily outpatient quota of 350 was set during the initial phase of the hospital's opening.

This as some patients share their thoughts on the new facility.

This man says he was surprised by how efficient the process was, and finds the hospital aesthetically pleasing.

While this woman says the hospital staff were willing to answer all her questions and proactively offered explanations pertaining to the facility for her.

But not all visitors are satisfied.

This woman says the hospital's signage is not clear, adding she had trouble finding the exit.

Meanwhile, the Hospital Authority notes hospital operations were largely smooth on its first day.

Dr. Eric Cheung, the HA's cluster chief executive of Kowloon Central, stresses there were relatively few complains related to Kai Tak Hospital.

He further notes the Hospital Authority will be lenient in handling cases of patients seeking a variety of services.

By the latter half of this month, the hospital is set to offer specialist clinic, blood drawing and clinical oncology services.

While X-ray, ultrasound and CT scan services will be available at the end of the month.

Secretary for Health Lo Chung-mau also made his way to the facility during the afternoon to assess the situation, noting the hospital will increase its patient capacity by 2,000 after completing its initial phase of operations.
