1.38mn+ mainland tourists visited HK over National Day Golden Week

The mainland's weeklong National Day Golden Week holidays have come to its last day. As of 4 pm, more than 1.38 million holidaymakers from up north entered Hong Kong, having surpassed the overall projected tally of 1.29 million.

On the last day, the West Kowloon high-speed rail station was bustling with home-bound mainland travellers.

Most of the tickets -- both short and long-haul ones -- have been sold out. While some mainland tourists tried to beat the travel rush and reached Hong Kong on this last day of the Golden Week. This Shanghai tourist says she is expecting less crowd with a better shopping experience in the city.

Some dried seafood shops also note a hike in revenues by 20 to 30% year-on-year during this year's holiday season after the recent relaxation of the mainland's customs restrictions on such products.
