A man has been charged with attacking Australian lawmaker Helen Haines who remains in critical condition
after she was hit by a car on Monday.
Flowers were placed outside of Haines' office on Tuesday by members
of the public after the 65-year-old politician was struck by an SUV.
The Alfred Hospital did not comment on media reports that Haines had
had a leg amputated.
Haines was initially taken to a hospital in Wangaratta before being
airlifted to another hospital in Melbourne while the 43-year-old suspect,
Brendan Nugent, remains in police custody.
