Hong Kong FinTech Week kicks off its two-day event at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai.

Delivering his opening speech, Chief Executive John Lee stated companies setting up or expanding their operations in Hong Kong this year have brought in more than 70 billion dollars in investments, and Hong Kong will continue to assist businesses in expanding into the Mainland and global markets.

Lee said: "Our goal is to ensure that businesses have the capabilities, capital, and connections to grow from Hong Kong into mainland and global markets.

We will develop an I and T industry chain in the Greater Bay Area, creating an international collaboration network that deepens regional ties with the mainland as well as international cooperation."

This year's FinTech Week has attracted around 1,000 government leaders and financial and technology professionals from over 100 countries and regions.

Among the participants are approximately 800 exhibitors and startups, as well as over 30 delegations from home and abroad.

The main forum features 10 specialised sub-forums covering topics such as policy and vision, artificial intelligence and cutting-edge technology.
