March private sector worker figure and vacancies drop

In March, the city's total number of workers in the private sector dropped 0.4 percent year-on-year.

The total number of vacancies also slid 12 percent.

According to the Census and Statistics Department, the total worker number eased to 2.7 million while job openings shrank to around 48,600.

Notably, construction industry manual worker numbers plunged 9 percent followed by the import and export trade which declined nearly 4 percent.

Property and residential care-related industries, meanwhile, logged a rise of over 2 percent.

Construction site vacancies also saw the biggest decline by more than 60 percent.

Financing, insurance and manufacturing saw a rise in vacancies available.
