Australia police's largest-ever cocaine seizure

Australian police have made the country's largest-ever cocaine seizure, uncovering 2.7 tonnes of the drug hidden in underground bunkers at a property near Sydney.

The cocaine, with an estimated street values of about 816 million Australian dollars, was found buried in plastic tubs beneath shipping containers with false floors at a semi-rural property in Londonderry, northwest of Sydney.

The seizure is part of an operation that began after a burnt-out-truck was reported in North Queensland.

Police said the case involves an international organised crime group. Commander Stephen Jay said the bust would protect millions of Australians from the scourge of illicit drugs.
