A survey by the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) reveals that over 20% of surveyed primary and secondary schools are positive about the application of artificial intelligence, but its application in teaching and administration still needs improvement.
From last month to this month, EdUHK distributed nearly 1,900 questionnaires to teaching staff in 163 primary and secondary schools and special schools across Hong Kong. In response, it was found that over 20% of primary and secondary schools are actively exploring the application of AI in teaching, learning, and administrative work.
However, working teachers still need to strengthen their understanding of generative AI and how to combine professional knowledge to guide students in using the tools.
The survey also found that teachers expect to save administrative time through AI, but schools still lack sufficient support and training for teachers.
EdUHK hopes that through this research, it can design professional development courses for teachers, integrate AI into learning across various subjects, and promote school administration.
