HK tourist killed in New Zealand car crash

A Hong Kong tourist has died in a car crash while driving in New Zealand's South Island, marking the second fatal accident involving Hong Kong travellers in the country in recent months.

The crash unfolded near Queenstown on Wednesday morning. Local media reported that a Hong Kong tourist was driving alone along the Crown Range Road when his car collided with a bus south of Cardrona.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene while no one on the bus was injured. Local police say investigations are ongoing over the cause of the incident.

Local authorities warned that recent rises in temperature have led to snowmelt with water and patches of black ice on roads, raising safety concerns.

Hong Kong's Immigration Department says it has received a request for assistance and will provide support to the family.
