Hong Kong Science Park held the kick-off ceremony for a travelling exhibition on China's aerospace achievements today, with government officials and leading scientists discussing Hong Kong's growing role in the nation's space programme. Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation hosts the kick-off ceremony for the "Achievements of National Aerospace Endeavours" Thematic exhibition at Hong Kong Science Park.

Innovation, Technology and Industry Secretary Sun Dong, HKSTP Chairman Cordelia Chung and other guests officiate at the ceremony. Sun says Hong Kong reached a major milestone this year when Dr. Lai Ka-ying became the city's first payload specialist and joined the Shenzhou-23 mission, reflecting Hong Kong's growing contribution to the nation's major technological projects.

An areospace experts sharing forum is held after the ceremony, bringing together three aerospace and space technology experts from local universities to share insights into Hong Kong's role in national areospace development. Professor Wo Bo of Polytechnic University says Hong Kong's close ties with the Mainland and its international outlook, allowing researchers to integrate the latest global scientific advances into national space projects.

The experts also introduce their latest research, including the Tianyun Camera, the first compact, high-precision greenhouse gas detection payload led by Hong Kong, which is carried to China's space station aboard the Shenzhou-23 mission. The exhibition will remain at Hong Kong Science Park for the next seven days before moving to the Hong Kong Productivity Council and Cyberport in August.
