Security chief says Huanggang will only open after stress tests

The Secretary for Security, Chris Tang, stated that authorities on both mainland and Hong Kong sides are preparing to conduct joint drills at the new Huanggang Port building. He emphasized that the checkpoint will only officially open after ensuring smooth system operations and completing stress tests.

Tang said, "we need to check if there are any issues with the hardware and whether everything runs smoothly."

"This includes smooth workflows and smoothly operating machinery to ensure there won't be any congestion when travelers enter Hong Kong, even during peak passenger flows. This approach draws directly from the openings of major infrastructure projects in the past—for instance, the extensive testing currently being conducted at the Kai Tak Sports Park."
