The US military says it has hit Iran for the seventh consecutive night, targeting infrastructure and military sites across the south and center of the country.

Iranian authorities reported dozens of people have been killed and hundreds were wounded in the latest round of hostilities, while claiming renewed strikes on US assets in Gulf states.

Footage shared on Friday shows multiple projectiles and warplanes launching from vessels in a spiralling conflict focused on control of the Strait of Hormuz.

The region has seen back-and-forth bombings after Donald Trump declared ending of truce. The US president has threatened to step up attacks this week if Iran failed to return to the negotiating table to end the war.

The US Central Command says early Saturday its forces struck surveillance sites, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage and maritime capabilities.

Iran has acknowledged intensified US airstrike campaign on its power facilities when its Energy Ministry called on people to use less power in southern provinces.

A key surveillance tower at the Chah Bahar Shahid Kalantari Port was bombed out and collapsed.

The US Centcom states its destruction will degrade the Revolutionary Guards' ability to coordinate attacks on maritime traffic.

In Hormozgan Province south of Iran, the bombardments claimed at least seven lives and two tunnels and a bridge sustained damages, disrupting one of the main highways towards Bandar Abbas, a city sitting near the narrowest part of the Strait of Hormuz.

Tehran responds by targeting US-allied Mideast neighbours including Qatar, Bahrain and Jordan.

The Guards state that countries hosting American forces should expect "corresponding responses" if their territory is used for attacks on Iran.

Sirens and air defence blasts sounded in Kuwait where one its desalination plants was damaged, sparking a blaze.

On Saturday, Kuwait announces it has intercepted hostile missiles launched at the small desert country and shut down several power generation units as a precaution.

Its airspace briefly closed in the morning due to aerial threats which prompted Kuwait Airways to reschedule most flights to and from the capital.

Mohsen Rezaei, a senior advisor to Iran's supreme leader, warns that continued US strikes could trigger a broader offensive.

He says in an interview that the policy of "both war and negotiation" has ended and that Iran will no longer limit itself to mere retaliation.

"US bases and forces will no longer be safe within any political borders," Rezaei indicates, adding that Iran could deploy additional military capabilities including ground forces.
