HKO issued T1 Signal at 8:40pm; T1 to stay at least until Sat noon

The Hong Kong Observatory issued the Standby Signal No. 1 at 8:40 pm as Severe Tropical Storm Noul moves closer to the city.

Noul has entered within 800 kilometers of the city around dusk.

HKO says it will consider upgrading the T1 signal to the Strong Wind Signal No. 3 tomorrow afternoon.

It is forecast to strengthen while crossing the northeastern South China Sea on Saturday.
