A saltwater pipe burst on Tai Kok Tsui early Thursday morning, disrupting flushing water supply to several major housing estates across Hoi Fan Road and Hoi Fai Road.

Police received reports around 7am regarding a burst underground 60cm-diameter saltwater pipe beneath the pavement opposite Hampton Place. A column of seawater shot up to seven metres high from the ground, flooding nearby footpaths and roads.

The Water Supplies Department confirmed that a 100-millimetre saltwater air valve spouted a leak.

Saltwater flushing supplies have been temporarily suspended for several surrounding properties, including Hampton Place, Olympian City Phase1 and Island Harbourview.
