4.8 magnitude earthquake hits Sichuan’s Yibin City

A 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck Yibin City in Sichuan Province at

approximately 2am. No casualities have been reported so far.

The China Earthquake Administration activated a level four emergency

response, instructing relevant departments to strengthen monitoring

and report the situation promptly.

CCTV footage shows objects shaking continuously at the moment of the

earthquake at 2:21am. The China Earthquakes Networks Centre

determined that the epicenter was located in Gao County, Yibin City,

with a focal depth of 6 kilometres.

The US Geological Survey recorded a 5.0 magnitude earthquake on

the Richardt scale with a focal depth of 10 kilometres. Power,

transportation, and communications in the affected area are reported to

be normal.
