Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei's definite strategy is to shift the war
to an offensive phases if Iran's conditions are not met,
an adviser to the country's supreme leader says.
This as Iran's joint military command says no ship could safely pass through
the Strait of Hormuz with Iran's permission and supervision.
Spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters Ebrahim Zolfaghari
said Thursday that "No commercial vessel or oil tanker has been or will be able
to safely transit the strait without the authorisation and supervision
of Iran's powerful Armed Forces.
He said the strait remains under the full management and control
of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Zolfaghari dismissed the US statements that ships were passing
through the strait as normal.
"The United States baseless claims that vessels are transiting
the Strait of Hormuz normally are nothing but falsehoods and lies," he said.
Meanwhile Iran was working to clean up an oil spill off Qeshm Island
in the Strait of Hormuz,
highlighting the environmental damage caused by the ongoing conflict
involving Iran, the United States and Israel.
Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei suggested Iran
should receive compensation for its efforts to contain the spill.
In a post on X, he said anyone who benefits from commercial shipping
through the Strait of Hormuz is obligated both legally and morally
to take action to compensate for and remedy the environmental damage.
Iran has not said what caused the spill.
But TankerTracker.com posted satellite images on X saying
the spill appears to have resulted from an Iranian attack on a bulk carrier off Oman.
The oil then drifted across the Strait towards Iran.
Oman has responded to another oil spill in the Arabian Sea
from a tanker grounded off its southern coast.
No party has claimed responsibility and the cause of a reported explosion
has not been revealed.
Environmental exports said oil has been spreading rapidly in recent weeks
from the partially submerged tanker to nearby protected marine areas.
