Customs officers arrested two people after raiding a suspected illegal pharmaceutical storage warehouse in Sheung Shui. They include a man and a woman from the mainland -- both in their 50s.

About 400,000 pharmaceutical products worth an estimated 11 million dollars were seized. Most of them are suspected virility-enhancing drugs from India.

Officers also found packaging equipment and boxes believed to have been used to prepare the drugs for smuggling.

Authorities believe most of the products originated in South Asia and say they were intercepted before entering the local market.

The Department of Health warns that Part 1 poisons and prescription drugs must only be used under medical supervision, and purchasing medicines from illegal or unknown sources could pose serious health risks. Further arrests have not been ruled out.
