The Court of Appeal has dismissed the government's appeal against a High Court ruling that denied approval for a public housing development project at the Fanling Golf Course.
This after authorities took back 32 hectares of land from the golf course in 2023 in a bid to construct public housing in the area.
The Hong Kong Golf Club applied for judicial review the same year hoping to overturn an earlier approved environmental approval for the development project.
A three-judge panel determined the environmental approval was riddled with issues and contained errors on data pertaining to wildlife inhabiting the golf course.
