The Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal on Tuesday rejects a general surgery doctor's appeal application after he was found guilty of professional misconduct by the Medical Council.
Chu Kin-wah still works as a general surgery after the medical blunder. During an operation in 2015, Chu failed to notice that a surgical gauze had been left inside a patient's abdomen. He then failed to inspect the reason behind the patient's persistent abdominal pain. The gauze was eventually removed by a different doctor.
After being found guilty by the medical council, Chu filed an appeal to the Court of Appeal, but his challenge was dismissed in January.
