Following renewed attacks between the Iran and US,
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says his
country still views diplomacy as the primary
way to resolve disputes.
During his appearance at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization
in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, he reiterates his country did not start the war.
The two sides exchanged fire on the weekend with the US targeting
Iranian missile launchers on Larak Island, in the Strait of Hormuz,
and Iran responding by firing missiles at American military facilities in Jordan,
which were intercepted.
Pezeshkian says if the US returns to its commitments in the
memorandum of understanding, Iran will immediately reciprocate, but maintains the US has no right to impose sanctions on Iran and the measures are in violation of international laws.
