European leaders back Germany amid accusations of Russian drone attack

European Union and NATO officials reaffirm their support for Germany after accusing Russia for an attempted drone attack at the Leipzig/Halle Airport last month.

Leipzig marks a new escalation on European Union soil, directly attributed to Russia.

But it is part of a broader pattern of increasingly dangerous incidents -- repeated incursions in our airspace, drones that paralyse our airports, and interference with our critical infrastructure.

We stand in full solidarity with Germany, the whole alliance and the European Union.

The examples are many.

The dangers Russia poses are clear.

If they think we will be deterred from supporting Ukraine, they are mistaken.

This as Berlin announced it will close the city's Russian consulate.

The German capital also announced it will close the Russian House in its Mitte district.

The facility was built in the Cold War era and offers cultural exhibitions, readings and movies, but has been suspected by Western leaders as a Russian spy headquarters.
