Leung Chun-ying praises Tung Chee-hwa’s character and achievements

Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Leung Chun-ying expressed his profound condolences over the passing of Tung Chee-hwa on his social media.

Writing in his post, Leung said Tung has led the establishment of the Special Administrative Region and its government, earning the great trust of the nation. He said Tung implemented principles including "One Country, Two Systems" , and with great foresight, planned the city's long-term development while addressing deep-seated livelihood issues.

He further described Tung as a benevolent, virtuous and persuasive sample for his peers.
