Commissioner for Belt and Road Nicholas Ho says this year's Belt and Road Summit saw the highest number of memoranda signed since the forum was launched. He adds that Hong Kong should further its position as a resource-allocation centre for the Belt and Road with a goal of wooing five times more overseas companies to the city.
The summit concluded in Hong Kong last week. Speaking with TVB News, Ho says more than 60 memoranda were signed involving around 3.1 billion US dollars -- roughly 3 times the amount recorded at the previous summit.
He says 13 visits to the Belt and Road countries were led Chief Executive John Lee which have helped to further lower trade barriers within the region.
More than 10 Belt and Road sovereign wealth funds were briefed on the Northern Metropolis during this year's summit and they were said to recognise the hub as a key destination for foreign companies with interest in innotech-and-education cooperation.
