President Xi Jinping wraps up his BRICS tour in New Delhi after delivering an important speech aims at cementing the foundation of the bloc's cooperation and "Global South" unity.

President Xi attends the second session of the 18th BRICS Summit on Sunday and joins other leaders for a traditional group photograph.

While taking the floor, Xi paints a picture of a world that is undergoing unseen changes in a century, and points out the Global South, with its collective rise, has become a key driver of world multipolarity.

He contends that BRICS members must stick to their historical initiative and rally the Global South to "play an active, stabilizing and positive role in global affairs."

He makes a plea to fellow leaders to safeguard the basic norms of international relations including sovereign equality, noninterference in internal affairs, and the peaceful settlement of disputes.

On deepening cooperation, Xi says countries should leverage their close ties with fellow emerging markets, safeguard stable and smooth industrial and supply chains, and foster a large integrated market.

This as he unveils China's proposal of leading the creation of a BRICS AI open source community.

The initiative supports developing countries' cooperation in developing large language models with the objective of building an open ecosystem for AI.

China also proposes to establish a BRICS special economic zone partnership and is set to hold the BRICS Forum on Trade in Services next year in an effort to cultivate new drivers of economic and trade cooperation.

After the conclusion of the summit, Xi left New Delhi on Sunday afternoon.
