Government says Hung Shui Kiu tender a success

The government says it hopes to launch the tender for Fanling North pilot area, one of the three land disposals, in the Northern Metropolis by the end of the year. Hung Shui Kiu pilot area was the first land disposal to undergo tender in the mega project.

Secretary for Development Bernadette Linn says "I believe the first one in Hung Shui Kiu is a success because it is a new endeavour for the Northern Metropolis. Having a land package involving both residential land and also industrial land plus some infrastructure.

And then we attracted two bids, so it is a competitive exercise. The award goes to both enterprises, comprising both property developer

and also big names in various industries. We are very encouraged that this approach, it seems, that it works in the Northern Metropolis."

Linn also says the Northern Metropolis aims to produce about 900-hectare of "spade ready sites" in the coming five years. About 400 hectares are designated for industrial land and another 200 for residential unit construction.
