Polls close for Russia Duma election as attacks on Moscow intensify

More than 1,100 Ukrainian drones are fired at assets well within the Russian territory overnight, including hundreds targeting capital Moscow, as polls close on the final day of the State Duma's first wartime elections.

According to the preliminary turnout, the ruling United Russia Party retains its majority with just under 58% of the vote for the 225 seats in the parliament.

Second place goes to the Communist Party of Russia, while the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia comes third.

Meanwhile, Russia's defence ministry on Sunday claims striking 146 locations in Ukraine including transport infrastructure, ammunition and military supply depots as well as storage facilities in response to the lethal drone and missile attacks.

The ministry vows its forces will continue and escalate the use of precision-guided weapons to hit Kyiv.
