Flooding continues to disrupt traffic in Bangkok, other Thai provinces

In Thailand, heavy rainfall that began Thursday afternoon has triggered flooding that affected over 84,000 people across 21 provinces, stranding vehicles and shutting down businesses.

The Nong Chok, Suan Luang and Khan Na Yao districts in Bangkok have been declared disaster zone after record deluge.

Footage shows inundated roads and cars abandoned after drivers were unable to move through the water.

Officials say accumulated rainfall in major canals exceeded 20 centimetres.

Some regional bus services to the eastern provinces have been suspended, while some flights might face delays at airports, which currently remain operational.

The flooded Thai capital has set up emergency shelters to accommodate evacuees and multiple government facilities are open to provide vehicle parking.
