27 consumer complaints over sudden closure of Hotstone Yoga

Yoga chain Hotstone Yoga has shut down all branches.

The Consumer Council says it had received at least 27 complaints, involving more than 429,000 dollars, related to the yoga chain's sudden closure.

The yoga brand had been in operation for at least ten years. Its notices say starting Thursday, no courses or treatments will be offered. Affected individuals can submit supporting documents to seek compensation.

They will also pay off employees' wages and class fees for September by next Monday or earlier.

Some customers say staff had still been promoting courses recently, only notifying them of the closure on Wednesday with one case involving losses reaching nearly 30,000 dollars -- equivalent to 150 classes.
