Trump launches attacks on Democratic Senator at South Carolina rally

US President Donald Trump launched verbal attacks against Senator Darline Graham's Democratic opponent, paediatrician Annie Andrews, calling her "one of the most crazy people in the entire country" during a South Carolina rally.

Trump joined a rally in Pendleton on Wednesday to speak for Graham, who was appointed to the Senate following the death of her brother, Senator Lindsey Graham, earlier this year.

Addressing supporters, Trump praised Graham, reassuring and urging voters to protect the Republican Party's long-standing grip on the state.

During the speech, Trump touched on a range of other topics.

He lamented missing out on the Nobel Prize, performatively imitated a female bodybuilder, and discussed expanding the death penalty.

More than US $34 million has been poured into the race, and Republicans are aiming to avert an upset as Democrats look to make gains in the midterm elections.
