A man was charged with three counts including attempted animal cruelty after he was suspected of spiking cat food bowls with rat poison in Shek Kip Mei Park.

The 34-year-old man was charged with attempted animal cruelty after he was found loitering around the tennis court at Shek Kip Mei Park on the 18th and 24th of this month. Police officers earlier found a pack of rat poison on him as well as a knife, landing him another charge of posession of an offensive weapon.

Judge Chan Wai-mun has adjourned the case until the 18th of January next year allowing further police investigation.

The defendant was granted a 10,000-dollar bail and is not allowed to leave the city nor return to the scene of the crime.
